Season I:

1. Premiere: A meteor shower in Smallville, Kansas leaves behind a future superhero in the shape of a young boy (Tom Welling) who is taken in by Jonathan (John Schneider) and Martha (Annette O’Toole) Kent. As his extraordinary powers begin to emerge, a teenage Clark faces the tribulations of high school and destiny changing relationships with his future nemesis, Lex Luthor (Michael Rosenbaum), and first love, Lana Lang (Kristin Kreuk).

2. Metamorphosis: Clark (Tom Welling) discovers that a fellow high school student (guest star Chad E. Donella), having been attacked by kryptonite-affected bugs, has taken on the “eat, molt, mate, die” life cycle of an insect with Lana (Kristin Kreuk) as his prey, and Clark must rush to save her without revealing his superpowers. Meanwhile, Lex (Michael Rosenbaum) holds Lana’s kryptonite necklace in his possession and ponders what to make of the strange stone.

3. Hothead: When football players at Smallville High are caught in a cheating scandal, Coach Walt is forced to look for replacements. Clark disobeys his father's wishes and joins the team at the same time that Lana decides she wants to quit the cheerleading squad and get a part-time job. Chloe soon discovers that it was Coach Walt who supplied the cheaters with the test and she discovers his other secret as well: Coach Walt can control fire, and he doesn't want his secrets to be revealed by a teenage reporter on the front page of the Torch.

4. X-Ray: Clark reels from his first flashes of X-ray vision. And his shock is compounded when he witnesses a robbery, apparently executed by his friend Lex.

7. Craving: Clark (Tom Welling) must save Pete (Sam Jones III) from literally being devoured by a female classmate (guest star Amy Adams) whose crash diet of kryptonite-infected vegetables causes her to shed weight faster than she can handle and must somehow satisfy her ravenous hunger. Meanwhile, Lex (Michael Rosenbaum) gets one step closer to the truth about Clark after funding a study on the green meteor fragments.

8. Jitters: Clark (Tom Welling) and Lex (Michael Rosenbaum) team up to rescue Clark's high school class after a janitor (guest star Tony Todd) takes them hostage in LuthorCorp. He claims his deadly "jitters" were caused by a mysterious contaminant and threatens to kill everyone unless he is shown a secret sublevel - which Lionel Luthor (guest star John Glover, Batman & Robin) denies ever existed.

9. Rogue: Clark's (Tom Welling) secret identity is at stake when a bad cop (guest star Cameron Dye) witnesses him use his superhuman powers and coerces Clark to join forces with him; however, when Clark double-crosses the cop, he is not prepared to deal with the consequences for him and his family. Meanwhile, Lex (Michael Rosenbaum) receives an intriguing proposal from an old British flame (guest star Kelly Brook, The Big Breakfast).

10: Shimmer: A teen girl's (guest star Azura Skye, 28 Days, Zoe...) obsession with Lex (Michael Rosenbaum) turns life-threatening when invisible attacks in Luthor Mansion pits Clark (Tom Welling) against an undetectable enemy. Meanwhile, Clark is thrilled when Lana (Kristin Kreuk) looks to him for companionship after Whitney (Eric Johnson) inexplicably pushes her away.

11. Hug: Clark (Tom Welling) is stunned when a pesticide magnate who has kryptonite-enhanced powers of persuasion somehow convinces Jonathan (John Schneider) to sell the family farm to make way for a new plant. Clark teams up with the local hermit whose mysterious past holds the key to the town's future.

12. Leech: When Clark (Tom Welling) rescues his classmate Eric (guest star Shawn Ashmore) from harm during an electrical storm, they are both struck by lightening, resulting in all of Clark's superpowers transferring to Eric. While Eric relishes his new life as "Superboy," Clark is torn between his happiness at finally being normal and his growing concern for the town's safety as Eric starts to abuse his powers. Meanwhile, Lex (Michael Rosenbaum) believes he finally has undeniable proof of Clark's superpowers and confronts him.

13. Kinetic: Clark (Tom Welling) and Lex (Michael Rosenbaum) are stumped when the Luthor mansion is robbed by burglars who seem to have the ability to walk through walls. Lex's curiosity turns to desperation when he discovers the thieves have stolen evidence of his secret project and Clark wonders if his dad was right about Lex's deceit all along.

14. Zero: Lex (Michael Rosenbaum) faces the consequences of his shady dealings in Metropolis years ago when an old enemy comes to Smallville intent on destroying his life, ultimately putting Clark (Tom Welling) and Lana (Kristin Kreuk) in harm's way. Meanwhile, Clark has his hands full as he tries not only to protect Lex from the past, but also keep Chloe (Allison Mack) out of his after she discovers a mystery surrounding his adoption.

15. Nicodemus: Clark (Tom Welling) must solve the riddle of the mysterious Nicodemus flower and Lex's (Michael Rosenbaum) shady involvement after it infects the residents of Smallville removing their inhibitions - Jonathan (John Schneider) becomes a couch potato, Lana (Kristin Kreuk) puts the moves on Clark as the town Lolita and Pete (Sam Jones III) tries to kill Lex - then puts them into a deadly coma.

16. Stray: After Martha (Annette O'Toole) accidentally hits a young boy with her car, the Kents take him in until they can locate his parents, unaware that the boy can read minds and has unlocked the secret thoughts of Lex (Michael Rosenbaum), Lana (Kristin Kreuk), Jonathan (John Schneider) and Martha, which puts Clark's (Tom Welling) secret in jeopardy. Meanwhile, Lex must decide if he wants to take his father (guest star Lionel Luthor) up on his job offer and move back to his old life in Metropolis.

17. Reaper: Clark (Tom Welling) must stop a kryptonite-infected man (guest star Reynaldo Rosales) who seeks to relieve the suffering of the elderly and sick by turning them into ashes - and Whitney's (Eric Johnson) ailing father may be his next victim. Meanwhile, Lex (Michael Rosenbaum) is furious after his father sends someone to look into LuthorCorp's financial records and this man reveals Lex's secret investigation into Clark and his family.

18. Drone: Clark (Tom Welling) sees the election for class president as an opportunity to be a "normal kid," but when his running mates are systematically attacked by a swarm of bees, Clark suspects a candidate is eliminating the competition one by one and he is next on the list.

19. Crush: Clark (Tom Welling) faces an unexpected foe when a gifted art student (guest star Adam Brody) returns to school after a hit-and-run accident robbed him of the use of his hands but gave him the gift of telekinesis, and he is seeking revenge against those he holds responsible. Meanwhile, Lana (Kristin Kreuk) becomes jealous after watching Clark with Chloe (Allison Mack) and begins to question her relationship with Whitney (Eric Johnson).

20. Obscura: Clark (Tom Welling) and Lana (Kristin Kreuk) race against time to find a kidnapped Chloe (Allison Mack) after a kryptonite explosion gives Lana the ability to "see" through the kidnapper's eyes and she watches Chloe being buried alive. Meanwhile, Lex (Michael Rosenbaum) discovers evidence that a spaceship landed in Smallville during the meteor shower.

21. Tempest: As a massive tornado rumbles towards an unsuspecting Smallville, Clark (Tom Welling) is on the verge of discovering the first connection to where he came from when the missing piece of the spaceship is found and breathes life into the fallen craft. Meanwhile, Lex (Michael Rosenbaum) is hit with a one-two punch after his father (guest star John Glover, "Batman & Robin") closes the plant and orders him back to Metropolis and the shifty reporter he hired to spy on the Kents discovers Clark's superhuman abilities and the spaceship hidden in the storm cellar. Rock band Remy Zero performs the "Smallville" theme song, their hit single "Save Me," in the episode at the high school formal.


Season II:

1. Vortex: After Clark (Tom Welling) rescues Lana (Kristin Kreuk) from the eye of the storm, he discovers the storm's wrath has unleashed the spaceship into the fields and buried his father (John Schneider) alive along with the unscrupulous reporter (guest star Tom O'Brien) who has discovered Clark's secret. Meanwhile, Lex (Michael Rosenbaum) is wracked with guilt over his father (John Glover).

2. Heat: Clark (Tom Welling) goes into hiding after he discovers a startling new power that quickly gets out of control and accidentally harms Lana (Kristin Kreuk). However, after a hot new teacher (guest star Krista Allen) uses kryptonite-enhanced pheromones to convince Lex (Michael Rosenbaum) to marry her, then spellbinds Jonathan (John Schneider), Clark must get a grip on his new power in time to keep Jonathan from killing Lex.

3. Duplicity: After one of Clark's (Tom Welling) friends discover the spaceship in the cornfield, Clark goes against his parents' (John Schneider, Annette O'Toole) wishes and reveals his secret, but is shocked when the reaction he gets makes him question his friend's loyalty.

4. Red: The school unknowingly uses red kryptonite in the class rings and its effect on Clark (Tom Welling) stuns his friends and family as he turns into a rebellious and dangerous teenager who decides to use his powers for evil instead of good. Jonathan (John Schneider) and Martha (Annette O'Toole) scramble to find the truth behind Clark's behavior before he exposes his true identity, while Lana (Kristin Kreuk) finds herself drawn to the "new" Clark who declares his love for her.

5. Nocturne: Clark (Tom Welling) is concerned when he discovers someone has been leaving love notes for Lana (Kristin Kreuk) at her parents' grave and warns her to stay away from the mysterious poet. Fed up with Clark's over-protectiveness, Lana (Kristin Kreuk) follows the dark and handsome stranger to his home and discovers his parents keep him locked in chains. Unable to leave him like that, Clark and Lana break into the house to save the boy, but soon realize why he was locked up in the first place.

6. Redux: After realizing the farm is in financial trouble, Martha (Annette O'Toole) goes to her estranged father (guest star George Coe) for help. Clark (Tom Welling) is thrilled at the prospect of meeting his grandfather but Jonathan's (John Schneider) refusal to see the man prompts Clark to force a reunion that doesn't go exactly as planned. Meanwhile, Lana (Kristin Kreuk) discovers an old photograph that suggests her father may still be alive.

7. Lineage: A mysterious woman shows up claiming to be Clark's (Tom Welling) mother, prompting the Kents (John Schneider, Annette O'Toole) to tell Clark what happened after they discovered him in the cornfield that fateful day. Clark discovers why his father hates the Luthors (John Glover, Michael Rosenbaum), how his adoption was fixed, and who really rescued Lex from the edge of death.

8. Ryan: Clark (Tom Welling) pushes his abilities to the limit to save his telepathic young friend Ryan (guest Ryan Kelley) from an evil doctor who wants to control the boy's abilities. Meanwhile, Nell (guest star Sarah-Jane Redmond) tells Lana (Kristin Kreuk) they are moving to Metropolis.

9. Dichotic: When Clark tries to warn Lana and Chloe (Allison Mack) about Ian (guest star Thomas), an overachieving student who is surreptitiously dating both girls, they accuse Clark of jealousy but realize too late that he was right. Meanwhile, frustration with his father (John Glover) causes Lex (Michael Rosenbaum) to lose his temper and attack a parking attendant's car with a golf club, landing him in an anger management class where he meets an interesting new woman.

10. Skinwalker: While moto-crossing with Pete (Sam Jones III), Clark (Tom Welling) falls into a cave and discovers two hidden treasures - ancient Indian writings that hold the key to his identity, and a beautiful girl whom he believes to be his soulmate. Desperate to preserve the writings, Clark pits father against son as he enlists Lex's (Michael Rosenbaum) help to stop Lionel's (John Glover) construction crew from demolishing the cave.
